It’s
official, Spring has sprung and the clocks have changed –
summer is on its way!
The lawn has
been cut for the first time this year and whilst the snowdrops
have finished, the daffodils are coming into bloom. It’ll
soon be time for the garden furniture to come out of winter hibernation.
Our Christmas
guests enjoyed a truly white Christmas but that seems so long
ago now and it’s time to look forward to the coming season.
It’s going to be good to see guests enjoying the garden
and BBQ-ing once more.
Having a look
on the internet, there’s some great events lined up for
this summer with something for all the family, not forgetting
peaceful relaxation for those needing to get away from it all.
Perhaps you’ll
spend some of your time in this diverse part of the country?
Hope to see
you soon,
John,
Peggy & Liz

Well,
here we are at the end of the summer.
The leaves
seemed to fall so fast it was a job keeping on top of them. The
autumn colours are beautiful though, especially against the pink
sunsets we’ve enjoyed of late.
Sadly the
garden furniture and BBQ have been stored away for another year
but it was great to see so many of you enjoying a BBQ on the lawn
when the weather permitted!
We’ve
had a few log fires in the living room now and it makes it cosy
and snug. Christmas and the New Year will soon be upon us and
already I’m thinking about when to collect and trim the
tree for the dining room.
It’s
been a great summer, even better when the sun shone, and we’ve
met some lovely people in our guests. We’ve enjoyed having
you as much as you tell us you’ve enjoyed staying.
We look forward
to welcoming our future guests, old and new, to No 8 in 2010 and
may I wish you all a happy Christmas and New Year.

The
first Bank Holiday in May saw the traditional Duck Race in Boynton
draw a healthy crowd - probably due in no small part to the beautiful
spring weather we were blessed with!
And so Boynton
went 'quackers' (groan!) with hundreds of plastic yellow ducks
being tipped into the water on Sunday afternoon.
They went
under starter's orders at the Stick Bridge and wound their way
downstream, over a waterfall, past Boynton Hall and - for those
that weren't by then snagged on the riverbank - on to the finish
line.
It makes for
a great spectacle and is a wonderful community event with villagers
and visitors alike enjoying refreshments afterwards at the village
hall.
